The game will have a single player campaign where you can battle against an AI at your own pace, as well as online-multiplayer where you will vie to be the first to reach 20 victory points by asserting control over the galaxy.
You have the ability to barter with the inhabitants of planets for extra resources, manage diplomatic relationships with other alien races, and interact with rogue mercenaries that patrol the galaxy. It also introduces some innovative new concepts to the genre, while building on others.
